S.O. 474(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 61 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (53 of 1972), the Central Government, being of the opinion that it is expedient so to do, hereby makes the following addition to the Schedule I of the said Act with immediate effect.

In Schedule I to the said Act

After Part II, the following shall be added, namely:—

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 61 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (53 of 1972), the Central Government, being of the opinion that it is expedient so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in Schedule I and Schedule IV of the said Act with effect from the data of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, namely:-

1. In Schedule I to the said Act, -

(a) in Part II A relating to “Fishes”, for serial number 2 and the entry relating thereto, the following serial number and entries shall be substituted, namely:-

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 61 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (53 of 1972), the Central Government, being of the opinion that it is expedient so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in Schedule 1 and Part II of Schedule II of the said Act, with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, namely:-

1. In Schedule 1 to the said Act.—

(a) in PART 1 relating to “MAMMALS”, after entry 41-B, the following entries shall be inserted namely:-

“42. Wroughton’s free tailed bat (Otomops wroughtoni).

43. Salim Ali’s fruit bat (Latidens salimali)

(b) in Part III relating to “Birds, after entry 18, the following entries shall be inserted, namely:-

“19. Swiftlets (Collocalia unicolor and Collocalia fusiphaga)

20. Hill myna (Gracula religiosa intermedia, Gracula religiosa peninsularis, Gracula religiosa indica and Gracula religiosa andamanesis)

S.O. 332 (E) – In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Act, 2002 (16 of 2003), the Central Government hereby appoints the 1st day of April 2003 as the date on which all the provisions except Section 6 of the said Act shall come into force.

S.O. 447 (E) – In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 54 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 (53 of 1972), the Central Government hereby empowers the Director of Wild Life Preservation and Assistant Director, Wild Life Preservation for that Government and in case of a State Government, the Chief Wild Life Warden and all officers not below the rank of the Deputy Conservator of Forests to exercise the powers in terms of section 54 of the said Act.
